Not Yashasvi Jaiswal But This Star Should Open The Innings With Rohit Sharma In The T20 World Cup 2024

Former Indian captain and ex-BCCI head Sourav Ganguly has picked his Indian openers for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. Ganguly claimed that it is the star Indian batter Virat Kohli who should open the innings with skipper Rohit Sharma.

Sourav Ganguly feels that Virat Kohli can score a century in just 40 balls, similar to Australia’s Travis Head. Ganguly recommended that Kohli should open the batting alongside Rohit Sharma in the upcoming T20 World Cup. As we know the upcoming T20 World Cup is scheduled to happen in the USA and West Indies from June.

While playing against Rajasthan Royals, Kohli registered a hundred in 67 balls. However, he faced criticism for his strike rate, especially when compared to openers from other teams who are scoring centuries in fewer balls.

While having a conversation to PTI, Ganguly said,”Virat Kohli has got the capability of getting a 40-ball 100 also. As I said at the start, India, with the talent they have, you just need to go and hit. Mindset should be to hit and then we’ll see what happens after 5-6 overs.”

Ganguly suggested that the selectors, Rohit Sharma, and coach Rahul Dravid should think about Kohli opening the innings with the Indian team captain in the T20 World Cup.

“If you ask me and it’s just my personal opinion and I’m not saying that the selectors should do it, because at the end of the day, it’s their call, Rohit and Virat should open.”
