Not In Pakistan Or UAE, This Is Where Asia Cup 2023 Is Likely To Take Place

The controversy around hosting the Asia Cup 2023 has been in the news for a long time. It was initially planned to take place in Pakistan and then there are rumours that the tournament might be held in another country since the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has declined the proposal to play in Pakistan citing political tensions between the two nations.

There was a proposal for a hybrid model of the tournament where India would play their matches outside of Pakistan which was initially agreed by the BCCI. However, the proposal was later rejected, which worsened the situation. With no better solution coming out, the Asian Cricket Council has decided not to organise Asia Cup in Pakistan and they have now picked another nation for the tournament.

According to a report of Indian Express, Sri Lanka is now the top contender to host the Asia Cup 2023. The final decision regarding the hosting of the tournament is likely to be made by the end of May. With support from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka for moving the tournament out of Pakistan, it is possible that Sri Lanka could host the major cricket event and resolve the issue.

There is currently uncertainty about the participation of the Pakistani cricket team in the tournament. Some reports suggest that they may choose to opt out from the tournament if Pakistan is removed as the host nation.
