“Not ideal for…”Irfan Pathan’s Candid Take on New York’s Cricket Pitch

Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan was not at all impressed by the pitch at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. After electing to bat first, Sri Lankan batters failed completely to rise on occasion and were bowled out for just 77 on board.

This was Sri Lanka’s lowest score in the shortest format of the game, as only three batters, Kusal Mendis, Angelo Mathews, and Kamindu Mendis, got to double digits, with Kusal Mendis being the highest scorer, scoring 19 of 30 deliveries.

After the first innings, Irfan said that the track in New York is not ideal for T20 cricket by any stretch of the imagination.

Irfan took to ‘X’ and wrote, “Not an ideal pitch for T20 cricket.”

The same venue in New York is set to host the India vs. Pakistan clash in New York.

On the other hand, for South Africa, it was Anrich Nortje who ran through the Sri Lankan batting line-up, picking up four wickets. He got equal support from Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj, who picked up two wickets each.
