Not Hardik Pandya But India To Pick New Captain For T20I Series Against Ireland

After the series against West Indies, Team India is all set to take on Ireland for a three-match T20I series which is scheduled to start on July 18. As usual, the Indian cricket management is looking to send a second string team for the series.

Initially, there were expectations that star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya would captain the team during the three-match series. However, recent reports indicate that Pandya might be given a rest due to concerns about his workload. This decision is deemed essential for the Indian team as he is considered a crucial member of the squad for the upcoming Asia Cup and ODI World Cup.

According to some sources from the BCCI, there is still no confirmation over it. The decision will be dependent on Pandya how he feels after the T20I and ODI series against the West Indies.

According to Times now, the BCCI source said,”Nothing is finalised yet and it will also depend on how Hardik is feeling after one-dayers and T20s in the West Indies. There is travelling involved and only a short turnaround of three days before one flies from Florida to Dublin. With the World Cup being of primary importance, one has to factor in his workload. Let’s not forget he will be Rohit’s deputy in the World Cup.”

Big players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are not part of the T20I series against the Caribbean country. Both these players have not played a single T20I game for India since T20 World Cup 2022.
