Noman Ali achieves this sensational feat becomes first Pakistani bowler to…

By taking a hat trick in Test cricket as the first Pakistani spinner on Saturday, January 25, Noman Ali made his name into the history. The spinner reached this landmark on the very first day during the ongoing second Test between Pakistan and West Indies at Multan Cricket Stadium. Within the first three balls of the 12th over, Noman made a monumental achievement to begin with–by trapping West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite before the wickets on the second ball of the 10th over–Justin Greaves on a collar, Tevin Imlach was out lbw on a golden duck, and Babar caught Kevin Sinclair off the first ball he faced.

Greaves was dismissed for 1 run off three balls, caught by Babar Azam in the second slip, while wicketkeeper-batter Imlach was out for a golden duck. Kevin Sinclair, facing the first ball of the over, was caught by Babar.

Wasim Akram was the first Pakistani bowler to take a hat trick in Test cricket. He was able to achieve the rare milestone while playing against Sri Lanka at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, back in March 1999. In his next Test against Sri Lanka, also in March 1999, he was again able to take a hat trick during the match played in Dhaka.

There was all-rounder Abdul Razzaq during a Test match against Sri Lanka in Galle in June of 2000, who was able to dismiss three batters in just about three balls. Fast-serving Mohammad Sami took his hat-trick in the final of the Asian Test Championship against Sri Lanka in Lahore in March of 2002.

The last Pakistani bowler to take a hat trick in the Test cricket before Noman was fast bowler Naseem Shah, who accomplished the feat during the Test match played between Pakistan and Bangladesh at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in February 2020.
