The 17th season of the IPL has been completed with KKR emerging Victorious in the finals beating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the finals by 8 wickets. As the tournament this year concluded the three-year cycle, a mega-auction will occur before the 2025 Indian Premier League. Once again, there will be a significant change in the competition as teams are only permitted to keep a small number of players, with most of the cricket being destroyed. KKR owner Venky Mysore even made an intriguing idea, according to reports claiming that IPL owners are debating modest changes to the regulations.
Renowned cricket analyst Harsha Bhogle disclosed in a video that he released on his YouTube channel that Venky Mysore proposed that teams should have eight Right To Match (RTM) cards, which would lead to retention at market value instead of any retention at all.
A fund of Rs 90 crore was given to each team, and they may keep a maximum of four players from the previous mega-auction, which was held in advance of the 2022 Indian Premier League. Only three Indian players and no more than two foreign players could be retained by the teams, though.
IPL champions ought to have an additional two or three retention spots in these big auctions, according to a previous suggestion made by former Indian cricket team player Ambati Rayudu. He did not, however, receive much backing, and former England captain Kevin Pietersen disagreed with his recommendation.
