Delhi Capitals regular captain Rishabh Pant will not be a part of the IPL this year due to a car accident in December last year. Australian opener David Warner has been made the team’s captain in his absence. At the same time, Axar Patel will play the role of vice-captain. Recently, Delhi Capitals shared a video on their social media showing the relationship between Axar Patel and Rishabh Pant.
Rishabh Pant is still recovering after surgery, so he will not be a part of IPL 2023. Meanwhile, before the start of the tournament, Pant’s special friend Axar Patel sent a heart-touching message to him, the video of which has been shared by the franchise on social media.
“I am constantly in touch with him (Rishabh Pant). I told him, see, brother, I have a relationship with my heart. Whether or not I come to meet you, I am there for you. Our main leader is injured. We will miss you a lot, brother; get well soon. We’ll take care of the upcoming season, but we always need you. No one can take your place. The entire Delhi team and support staff are praying for your speedy recovery and early return to cricket.” Said Axar Patel on Rishabh Pant.
Axar further added that he has been with DC for 3-4 years, and being a vice-captain is big for him. He will look forward to it and try his best in the team strategy.
“When I joined, met Ricky Ponting (coach) and all the other guys, I was having a great time. I have been with the franchise for 3-4 years. This is a new role for me. In my view, if you get this role, you are progressing as a senior player. Whatever you have done for the team counts. You are being rewarded for your performance. I am looking forward to it, and we know that our team is mostly the same as it has been for the last 3-4 years. My responsibility with Davey (David Warner) will be to get the best out of the players.” Axar added in the last.
Delhi Capitals will play their first match against Lucknow Super Giants on the 1st April.
