Nitish Rana Will Join New Team In The Next Season, Confirmed By Social Media Post

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Nitish Rana recently announced his decision to switch teams in the domestic cricket circuit. After captaining the Delhi side, Rana revealed on Twitter that he would be leaving Delhi and joining Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming domestic season. This decision follows his reported discontent with certain developments within the Delhi cricket team.

Departure from Delhi Confirmed: Sources within the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) had confirmed earlier in August that Nitish Rana was seeking to leave the Delhi side. Rajan Manchanda, the joint secretary of DDCA, confirmed that Rana had requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Delhi board to facilitate his move to another team.

“Nitish is peeved because he was dropped from the red ball team and removed from captaincy. Dhruv is annoyed as selectors dubbed him a red ball specialist last season. Hence they want to move. Maybe president Rohan Jaitley will have a word with them, but DDCA didn’t even stop Virender Sehwag from leaving the state,” a DDCA director told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

Rana’s departure from Delhi is believed to stem from a combination of factors. His dissatisfaction reportedly began when he was replaced as white-ball captain by Yash Dhull, who had been part of the team for just a single season. Rana’s relationship with specific players in the Delhi dressing room, including a clash with Mumbai Indians all-rounder Hrithik Shokeen during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season, contributed to his decision to leave.

In a heartfelt Twitter post, Rana expressed his gratitude to the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) for the opportunities, guidance, and support he received from the team. He extended his appreciation to Rohan Jaitley, the president of the Delhi board, for his help and cooperation throughout his journey. Rana’s post reflected on his journey as the captain of Delhi Cricket and his sincere appreciation for the experiences he gained.

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the opportunities, guidance, and support DDCA has provided me. As I move on to new horizons, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey I had while captaining Delhi Cricket and express my sincere appreciation,” Rana wrote in his post.

“I would also like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Rohan Jaitley for his support and cooperation during my time with DDCA. However, I think it’s time to turn the page and embark on a new chapter in my career. I have come to this decision with much thought, and I’m happy to announce that I’ll be joining UPCA from the upcoming domestic season,” the KKR captain confirmed.

While expressing his gratitude for his time with DDCA, Rana also announced his decision to move forward and embrace a new chapter in his career. He confirmed that he would join the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) for the upcoming domestic season. This decision was made carefully, and Rana is eager to begin this new phase in his cricketing journey.
