Nitish Rana from Rajasthan Royals talked about the Super Over decision after their game against Delhi Capitals. He mentioned that the team captain, along with two senior players and coaches, make those calls, and he doesn’t regret not being picked to bat.
Rana hit 51 runs off 28 balls and was at the crease until late in the chase. Yashasvi Jaiswal also scored 51 but neither of them batted in the Super Over. After the match, Rana explained that management decided to go with Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer instead.
He said, The management makes the decision, not just one person. The captain has input, along with others. If Hetmyer had hit two sixes, you wouldn’t be asking this. He stood by the choice to send Hetmyer, who has been a strong finisher in the past.
Rana also supported the decision to let Sandeep Sharma bowl the Super Over instead of Jofra Archer. He pointed out that both bowlers had decent stats, but they stuck with Sandeep because of his previous performances.
The management discusses these choices, and if it had worked out, you wouldn’t have this question, Rana noted. He emphasized that cricket is all about results and that they were just one shot short in that Super Over. Rajasthan Royals are set to play their next match against Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday, April 19 in Jaipur.
