Nitin Menon Became The First Indian Umpire To Acheived This Feat

Indian umpire Nitin Menon, who controversially dismissed Virat Kohli several times on the cricket field, has been given a chance to officiate in the Ashes series between England and Australia in June-July.

Indore’s 39-year-old Nitin Menon will be the on-field umpire in the third and fourth Tests. Nitin Menon, the lone Indian in the elite panel of ICC umpires, will officiate in the Ashes series between England and Australia in June-July.

A BCCI source said, “He will be umpiring in the Ashes.” The third Test will be played at Leeds from 6th July to 10, and the fourth in Manchester from 19th July to 23. Menon will be the TV umpire in London’s fifth and final Test.

Talking about Nitin Menon’s cricketing career, he was a wicket-keeper batter. His cricketing career as a right-handed wicket-keeper ended after 2 matches. Nitin Menon has experience playing 2 List A matches. He scored 7 runs in the above matches. Nitin Menon’s father, Narendra Menon, has also been an umpire. Nitin Menon could have umpired in the Ashes in 2020 as well, but only local umpires were selected due to the Corona epidemic.

Nitin Menon made his umpiring debut in international cricket on 26th January 2017. He umpired for the first time in ODIs on 15th March in the match against Ireland and Afghanistan. In February-March this year, during the four-match Border-Gavaskar Test series between India and Australia, Nitin Menon was famous for his poor umpiring.

Nitin Menon was included in the Elite Panel Umpires of the ICC in the beginning of the year 2020. He is the third Indian in the ICC Elite Panel Umpires after S Venkataraghavan and S Ravi.
