Nicholas Pooran played an amazing innings, scoring 70 runs off just 26 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in IPL 2025. From the start, he completely dominated, leaving the SRH bowlers confused.
None of their strategies worked, as Pooran hit 6 fours and 6 sixes. He reached his half-century in only 18 balls, making him the player with the most half-centuries in under 20 balls in IPL history, with four to his name. Travis Head and Jake Fraser-McGurk are in second place with three each.
Pooran had a strike rate of 269.23, which is pretty impressive, to say the least. He teamed up with Mitchell Marsh for a 116-run partnership, bringing Lucknow closer to their target. With this innings, Pooran is now the top run-scorer of the tournament, with a total of 145 runs. Marsh follows closely behind with 124 runs.
Lucknow Super Giants had a fantastic day both batting and bowling against Sunrisers. Shardul Thakur, who went unsold during the IPL auction, replaced Mohsin Khan and has been great for the team since. In this match, he took four wickets, playing a key role in SRH scoring 191 runs in their innings.
In the second half, Marsh and Pooran were just too much for the SRH bowlers, leading Lucknow to a five-wicket victory and putting them in second place on the points table. Thakur was named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance. Next, LSG will face Punjab Kings at their home stadium on April 1.
