New Zealand Will Tour To Bangladesh After A Gap Of 10 Years

After a hiatus of nearly a decade, the New Zealand cricket team is gearing up for a highly anticipated tour of Bangladesh, featuring ODIs and Test matches. The tour holds significant importance for both teams as they prepare for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 and engage in red-ball clashes as part of the ICC World Test Championship cycle.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board recently revealed New Zealand’s upcoming tour itinerary. The tour is divided into two parts: a white-ball series followed by red-ball Test matches. The tour will commence on September 21, with three ODIs at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. This white-ball series is essential for both teams as they fine-tune their strategies for the World Cup.

The second phase of the tour features a two-match Test series, which holds significance in the context of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle. The Test matches are scheduled for November-December, following the conclusion of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. The specific venue for the Test matches will be announced later, adding to the intrigue surrounding the series.

For New Zealand, the tour is integral to their preparations for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. The Blackcaps, runners-up in the 2019 World Cup, are set to begin their campaign on October 5 against reigning champions England in Ahmedabad. The tour of Bangladesh provides them with valuable match practice and an opportunity to fine-tune their strategies before the marquee event.
