After winning the ODI series against Sri Lanka, now Indian team is looking to clinch the home series against New Zealand. Team India will play 3 ODIs and 3 T20I match series against the kiwis. The first match of the ODI series is set to be played from January 18 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

The record of the Indian team in ODIs against New Zealand at their home has been excellent. Looking at the recent form of the Indian team, it is expected that Rohit Sharma & Co. will crash New Zealand in the upcoming series.

For the first time in December 1988, New Zealand took part in the ODI series against India on Indian soil. The Indian team, captained by Dilip Vengsarkar, won all four series of matches. Later in 1995, under the captaincy of Mohammad Azharuddin, India won the five-match series 3-2. Four years later, in 1999, under the captaincy of Sachin Tendulkar, India beat the Kiwis by a margin of 3-2.

In 2010, New Zealand toured India for the ODI series; in that five-match series, under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir, Team India clean swept the kiwis. Then in 2016, under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, and in 2017 also under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, India defeated New Zealand in the ODI series at their home.

India and New Zealand have played 113 ODIs so far, in which India has won 55, and New Zealand has won 50 matches. At the same time, the result of seven matches did not come out, and one match was left in the tie.
