The Gujarat Titans suffered their first ever loss against the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL history. Shubhman Gill and company failed to chase a target of 164 and got bowled out for 130 runs in 18.5 overs.
Speaking about the team’s loss provided a brutal assessment of the team’s loss, stating that the batting unit failed to make most of the batting track.
Gill also criticized the team’s batting approach, as none of the team’s batters crossed 35 runs. The opener of the Gujarat Titans, Sai Sudarshan, was the highest scorer of the team, scoring 31 of 23 balls.
Speaking about the team’s loss Gill said, “I think it was a good wicket to bat on, to be honest. It was just a really poor batting performance from us. We got a decent start, but we lost it in the middle overs, and we were never able to get back to momentum or recover from that.”
Gill further added, “To restrict them to 160 on a wicket like this was impressive. We were expecting them to score around 175–180, but to limit them to 160 was a tremendous effort by the bowlers.”
This was Gujarat’s third loss in five matches they have played in the tournament so far. On the other hand, after losing their first encounter, LSG went on to win three games on trott.
