Neither Virat Kohli nor Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh picks this World champion to bat for his life

In a surprising revelation, Yuvraj Singh has gone for the 37-year-old Rohit Sharma as the one cricketer he would like to bat for his life while ignoring the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. Rohit who is only behind Sachin, Kohli, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly on the list of leading run scorers for India in international cricket has also made a name for himself just like Tendulkar and Kohli who are arguably the two greatest batters ever.

He has hit over 10,000 runs in ODIs and was at one time all-time leading run scorer in T20Is until retiring on June 29th 2024.

During an interview with Sportskeeda when Yuvraj was asked “Which cricketer would you pick to bat for your life?” he said that it would be rohit.

Rohit who became ICC trophy winning captain of India for the third time in June 2024 made his T20I debut against England at Kingsmead during the T20 World Cup 2007 held on 19th September 2007. However, he did not get a chance to bat because Yuvraj had already created history by hitting six sixes in an over during that particular match.

The interview also composed another question for Yuvraj asking who would he pick Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid or MS Dhoni as a captain better than the other two. Yuvraj picked Sourav Ganguly above the other two.

“Well they were all captains and I played long enough with both Dhoni and Ganguly. But I think it was Ganguly that I started under, so I would say Ganguly,” he explained.

Preparations are underway for Rohit to lead India in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh that starts on Thursday (September 19). The first match of this series will take place at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, while Green Park Stadium Kanpur will host the second Test from September 27.

Until today, in 13 Tests played against Bangladesh, India have won 11 matches but this does not mean they can afford to underestimate Najmul Hossain Shanto & Co who recently defeated Pakistan in their last series earlier this month.
