“Need to be…”Brian Lara comes in support of Virat Kohli amid poor performance

Famous West Indies batsman Brian Lara thinks the Indian team management should be patient with Virat Kohli, who is not doing well in the T20 World Cup 2024. Kohli has only scored 29 runs in four matches, averaging 7.25. In the recent game against Afghanistan, he seemed to be getting into form and was heading towards a better score.

But, his time batting ended when he hit the ball to someone far away in the field while trying to score faster against Rashid Khan. So, Kohli was out after making 24 runs from 24 balls, and his poor performance in the tournament kept going. Even though he scored low again, Lara thought there was no need to worry about the famous Indian batsman because he had some time at the crease. He also mentioned that the fans and the team leaders need to be patient with Kohli since there are still many matches left in the tournament.

“24 out of 24, you might think that’s not very good, but what really matters is that he got some playing time. India is now closer to winning the trophy. I think Virat Kohli will only get better as he heads to the Caribbean. His next stop is Antigua, and you’ll see him keep trying hard, he’ll score runs. Once he’s fully in form, it’ll be a whole different situation. We just need to be patient with him, there are still many games left in this World Cup,” Brian Lara said on Star Sports.

Kohli is playing as an opener for the first time in the T20 World Cup and hasn’t shown the same performance as he did in the IPL. In the previous tournament, he scored the most runs, 741, in 15 innings, averaging 61.75 and hitting at a rate of 154.69.

But in this current event, he hasn’t been able to match that success. Next, India will play against Bangladesh, a team Kohli has done very well against in T20Is, with an average of 96.5. As the important final rounds of the tournament are coming up, Kohli will be looking to regain his form against this favored opponent.
