“Nation Is Not Important For Some Players….” Said West Indies Coach Phil Simmons

West Indies team is going through very tough phase. Recently, they lost the home series against Bangladesh and India. In their own backyard they had been clean swept in one day series by both the visiting nations. After, continuous failure at international level their coach Phil Simmons has come out blasting at some senior West Indies players.

“It is very disappointing to loose matches on your home ground, forget about the series win, even we were not able to win a single match against the both Asian team in ODIs. We are working hard to improve the results but things are not going well for us. After the New Zealand series we will think about changes in team combinations”.

On being asked about the availability of star players like Andre Russell, Sunil Narine and many others , “It hurts. There is no other way to put it. But what can you do? I don’t think that I should be begging people to play for their countries. I think that if you want to represent West Indies you will make yourself available for selection” said Phil Simmons.

Andre Russell and Sunil Narine hasn’t made themselves available for selection as both are playing in Hundreds. Even Lewis and Oshane Thomas haven’t appeared for fitness test whereas likes of Roston Chase, Sheldon Cottrell and Fabian Allen is out due to injury.

West Indies team is currently playing against New Zealand team and got defeated in the first match. T20 World Cup is not too far away and men in maroon have to find some way to get winning momentum on their side otherwise the story of previous year World Cup may be repeated in Australia as well.
