Veteran Australian spinner Nathan Lyon has picked the top batters he has faced in his illustrious cricket career. Lyon, celebrated as one of the premier spinners in red-ball cricket, recently achieved the milestone of 500 Test wickets.
He is one of the key members of Australia’s Test squad participating in the ongoing three-match series against Pakistan. The conclusive match of the series is scheduled to take place at the Sydney Cricket Ground on January 3, and it will also mark the farewell Test for David Warner.
Before the third Test, Nathan Lyon revealed the three top players he has faced in his career. His distinguished list included two Indian Indians and one legendary South African player.
“The best player I have played against, that’s a very hard question. I have played against some of the greats of the game. I will give you three (names), they will be Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, and AB de Villiers,” Lyon said.
The off-spinner also said that it always gets tough to dismiss such batters.
“The secret to get them out, something that I struggle to do, would be trying to challenge their defense for a long period of time,” Lyon said.
While Tendulkar and De Villiers have already retired from international cricket, fans will be eager to see some more battles between Nathan Lyon and Virat Kohli.
