“My best spells are..” Ashwin Recalls His Best Spell That He Bowled For Team India Ahead Of His 100th Test Match.

One of the biggest match winners in modern-day cricket, Ravi Ashwin, is all set to feature for India for the 100th time in test match cricket.

Ashwin will be the 14th Indian to have played 100 or more test matches for Team India. The veteran spinner is the second-most successful bowler in test cricket for Team India after Anil Kumble. In his entire career, Ashwin has won the 10 man of the series award and has 35 five-wicket hauls, the most by an Indian.

However, ahead of his 100th test match for the country, Ashwin recalls his best spells for team India, but interestingly, it did not include any five-wicket haul.

Speaking of his best spell, Ashwin said, “When you finish, it is Test wins that stand really tall. But having given it a lot of thought, one of the finest spells I have bowled has to be the one in Birmingham in 2018. I got three wickets on the morning of day three. I got Cook, Root, and Jennings. I got seven wickets in the game. I felt like I had almost bowled India to victory in the game, but it didn’t happen. That has to be one of the finest spells I have bowled.”

Ashwin further added, “A Test in Bangalore, where I bowled a spell on day two morning, not for many rewards. And day one at Centurion in 2018 again against South Africa. I got a four-for. It could have been six or seven, but it didn’t happen. That was a good spell. Those are three spells that will stand out. Several five-fors and wins have happened over the years, but these are the spells I will remember for how [the ball] came out of the hand and what it meant personally. “

Ashwin’s Century: Rewriting Cricket History against England

Team India and Ashwin are set for the final tussle against England that starts in Dharamshala on March 7.
