India is set to tour Zimbabwe for three match ODI series starting from August 18. Indian team will be without the services of their key players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and Md Shami on this tour and men in blue will be lead by KL Rahul. In absence of their key players this series will not be a cake walk for them as host team is looking in great touch.
Host team have qualified for T20 World Cup 2022 and then won the T20I and ODI series against Bangladesh. In Odis they hadn’t got the services of their key players Blessing Muzarbani, Sean Williams, Tendai Chatara and Sean Williams but rising batter Innocent Kaia and experienced Skindar Raza had ensured that their absence shouldn’t impact the overall performance of their team and the result. Kaia had also made his maiden ODI century in that series.
Zimbabwe opener is all set to come up with great intention during India series. “I will like to carry the same form against India as well. Indian team have rested some of their best players and this is great opportunity for us to win the series. We are also missing our key players due to injury but every selected player will try to give their best against the visiting team” said Innocent Kaia
He further added, ” We would like to win the series by 2-1 margin. I am aiming to play in IPL, with great performances in this series. My intentions are pretty clear, perform against them and get a chance to be noticed for the IPL auctions. This opportunity is not only for me, this is for everyone, and if we give our best then we can beat them as we had beaten Bangladesh.”
Although, Innocent Kaia has to prove a lot at international level, but if he will carry the same form in this series as well, then Zimbabwe can give tough competition to the visitors. In 6 ODI matches Zimbabwe opener has decent average of 40.83 and has all the potential to knock the IPL doors with impactful performances during India series.
