It happened during the third ball of the fifth over when Will Jacks was bowling to Vipraj Nigam. The umpire called a no-ball because MI only had three fielders on the off-side. According to the IPL rules, there can’t be more than five fielders on the on-side during delivery.
In the match, Suryakumar Yadav played a crucial role with a solid 73 not out, helping Mumbai Indians secure the last playoff spot with a 59-run win over Delhi Capitals. Suryakumar’s impressive 43-ball innings included seven fours and six sixes, giving MI the advantage they needed. This win was especially sweet since they didn’t make the playoffs last year.
Delhi Capitals had a chance to reach the playoffs too but struggled in this match. They let MI score 48 runs in the last two overs, which didn’t help their cause. Their top-order batting collapsed during the powerplay, making the rest of the game feel like a formality. Chasing 181, Delhi could only manage 121 runs in 18.2 overs, with Sameer Rizvi being their highest scorer at 39.
Mitchell Santner stood out among the Mumbai bowlers, taking 3 wickets for just 11 runs in his 4 overs. Jasprit Bumrah also had a great game, grabbing 3 wickets for 12 runs in 3.2 overs.
