Returning to the field for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 18th IPL season will be MS Dhoni. Start of the campaign of CSK vs. Mumbai Indians on March 23. Fans would need to wait 10 months to view Dhoni in action as he only plays the IPL.
Ruturaj Gaikwad will captain Dhoni, who is on the brink of history as he nears a major IPL 2025 landmark. During the IPL 2025 season, he will be the first player in the world to play 400 T20 games, 350 One Day Internationals, and 50 Test matches.
With 90 Test matches and 350 One Day Internationals (ODIs), India’s former captain finished his international career. Furthermore, he has been active in 98 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) and a combined 391 T20 games. Dhoni is just 9 T20 games away from a historic accomplishment.
CSK is scheduled to play their ninth game of the season against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai on April 25. Dhoni’s 400th T20 game at his home ground will be noted in this contest.
Two Indian cricketers with more than 400 T20 games each are Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik. At the start of IPL 2025 Rohit will have played 448 T20 games and is set to hit 450 appearances. He retired from his T20 International career after leading India to the 2024 World Cup triumphs.
Karthik has played in 412 T20 games. Even as he has distanced himself from Indian cricket, he is still engaged in professional cricket; he has played for Paarl Royals in SA20 league. So far, Virat Kohli has played 399 T20 games and he next match will bring him closer to being the third Indian player to reach 400 T20 appearances.
