MS Dhoni revealed he prefers Instagram over X as his choice of social media. The World Cup-winning former captain, who prefers to stay away from the limelight when he is not playing professional cricket, argued why he believed X has done more harm than good, at least in India. The CSK superstar last posted on X, formerly Twitter, in January 2021. His last post on Instagram came in July 2023
Speaking at a commercial event in Dubai, Dhoni expressed how much he dislikes ‘X’.
The 42-year-old also believed that Instagram’s environment had changed. Since nothing positive has transpired with “X,” I prefer Instagram to ‘X’. Someone will write something and turn it into a controversy, especially if it’s controversial. Why am I obliged to attend? Prior to today, there were 140 characters. You are unable to go into detail. Imagine that I placed something there, and then it’s up to the public to read it and make their own interpretations,” Dhoni stated.
“I’m like, “No, no, that’s not for me.” I still enjoy Instagram because I can post a picture or a video there and forget about it. That is currently also evolving. Even though I’m not on it much, I still think Instagram is superior because there aren’t as many distractions. However, I would post anything for the fans to know where I am in between and when I’m not there. Somewhere nice, under capable hands, doing what I enjoy.”
Dhoni prefers to keep out of the spotlight, but a lot of current and former cricket players have launched their own YouTube channels to share personal stories with their followers. Despite having a weak online presence, Dhoni still boasts to have 48 million Instagram followers.
