Renowned West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle has suggested that MS Dhoni may not participate in all matches of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) after Ruturaj is appointed captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
As we know, Dhoni stepped down from the captaincy just before the IPL 2024 opener between CSK and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 22nd.
Dhoni guided CSK to their fifth title by winning the final of IPL 2023 against Gujarat Titans which was then captained by Hardik Pandya. Although it was anticipated that the 2023 edition would mark his final season, Dhoni revealed his intention to continue playing for one more season, provided his physical condition permits.
While talking to Jio Cinema, before the start of the IPL 2023, Gayle said, “He (MS Dhoni) might not play all games. There may be a little break in between for him. that’s why I made the decision. But MSD will go well, don’t worry about that.”
On Friday, March 22nd, the much-awaited match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore unfolded at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The defending champions, CSK, displayed their supremacy by securing victory over their opponents, RCB, by a margin of six wickets.
