MS Dhoni has predicted that India will create history during the T20 World Cup 2026 because he considers Suryakumar Yadav’s team to be the most complete and dangerous team in the tournament while he identified dew as the factor that will create difficulties for their plans.
Dhoni explained to the audience that India has reached all necessary milestones for their first successful T20 World Cup title defense but emphasized that their success depends on their ability to handle different match conditions which include dew.
Dhoni described India as “one of the most dangerous teams” when somebody asked him about their chances to win the title again. “You know, they would have already started batting or bowling. But what all is needed in a good team? Everything is there.”
Dhoni explained that experience and role clarity define the Indian team because they need to handle pressure situations which occur frequently during T20 matches.
The team possesses extensive match experience and their players have developed skills which match their assigned roles according to him.
Dhoni believed that external conditions had the potential to disrupt India’s T20 World Cup run when he spoke about the upcoming tournament.
Dhoni expressed his concerns about a critical deep play situation which required him to toss an object and execute other required actions. I want to express my particular dislike for dew because it creates multiple problems for my activities. The India squad demonstrates their capability to perform well in different conditions which depend on basic field conditions remaining unified according to him.
The team needs to win more than half their upcoming 10 matches against elite opponents because those matches will occur in standard playing conditions according to him. The T20 World Cup favorites for India remain uncertain. Dhoni displays confidence because India has won its recent matches. The team has maintained an undefeated record in their international matches since they won the T20 World Cup 2024 championship. The Indian team has established dominance in the shortest version of the game by winning 32 games and losing only five matches during this time frame.
India has achieved victory in 49 out of 63 T20I matches they played since August 2023 while losing only three matches. The team currently holds the top position in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings while Abhishek Sharma leads as the number one batter and Varun Chakaravarthy stands as the top T20I bowler in the format. The 2026 edition will see India compete as both host nation and defending champion while they pursue an achievement which no other men’s team has accomplished. No team has ever won the T20 World Cup as a host nation and no team has ever defended its championship successfully.
