Former Indian middle-order batter and one of the stars of Chennai Super Kings Suresh Raina has signed with one of the franchises of Lanka Premier League(LPL) 2023. The former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player has been recruited with a starting price of $50,000.
The LPL auction is scheduled to occur on June 14, and the fourth edition of the league will be conducted from June 30 to August 20. During the inaugural season of the Lanka Premier League in 2020, the former all-rounder Irfan Pathan played for the Kandy Tuskers squad.
Suresh Raina declared his retirement from all formats of the game in September 2022. His most recent appearance in a cricket match was during the Legends League Cricket in March of this year. Raina played a pivotal role in winning the title for Chennai Super Kings in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021. He served as the vice-captain of CSK and holds the record for the highest number of runs for CSK which is 4,687 runs in 176 matches.
Suresh Raina also took on the role of captain for the Gujarat Lions in 2016 and 2017. Under his leadership, the team performed brilliantly and finished at the top of the points table in 2016. In his IPL career, Raina has over 5,500 runs.
