Mohammed Shami suffers another injury scare, this time it’s due to…

Jharkhand achieved a whopping 10-wicket triumph over Arunachal Pradesh in a Group C encounter of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, thanks very much indeed to Ishan Kishan who scored 77 runs unbeaten off only 23 balls with nine sixes during his stupendous innings. On the other hand, at Rajkot, there was an injury scare for India pacer Mohammed Shami during the Group A matchup where Bengal played Madhya Pradesh at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.

Apart from Shami, MP won the Group A matchup against Bengal by 6 wickets, restricting them to 189 for 9, courtesy of Shivam Shukla’s impressive 4/29. The brisk half-centuries were scored by Rajat Patidar (68 runs off 40 balls) and Subhranshu Senapati (50 runs off 33 balls) as MP cruised to a comfortable victory.

But more than all of these, the highlight of the match was that of Shami, suffering a near injury. He tried to field the ball off a last ball delivery and fell, and went in with his feet seeming to have been hit directly by the ball while climbing it.

The pacer, who returned to action after a long injury layoffs, was visibly uncomfortable and, prostrate, cradled his lower back.

Nitin Patel, head of the Centre of Excellence’s medical panel and who was being flown in to track Shami, promptly entered the field to check on the bowler. Thankfully, this incident has not led to any kind of serious injury.

The opener for Jharkhand in the Group C match was in complete destruct mode and helped the chase finish at 94 in just 4.3 overs.

In fact, the conquering wicketkeeper-batter was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rs 11.25 crore in the IPL mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday.

Of the Bolers from Jharkhand, Anukul Roy (4/17) and Ravi Kumar Yadav (3/12) had the most successful day with the ball.
