Mohammad Nabi Signed Off Captaincy Duties After The Lost Against Australia, Wrote An Emotional Post

Afghanistan lost to Australia in its last group match by four runs, thus ending the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 on a sad note.

Now, just after the match against Australia, Afghanistan Captain Mohammad Nabi has said goodbye to his captaincy duties. Not to forget, he was one of the pioneers in the making of Afghanistan Cricket.

Nabi announced this on his official Twitter handle. It was also noted that Nabi was not satisfied with the National Selectors. The former captain said,”From last year, our team’s preparation was not to a level that a captain would want or need for a big tournament. Moreover, in some of the last tours, the team manager, selection committee, and I were not on the same page, which had implications on the team balance.”

He further added,”Therefore, with due respect, effective immediately, I announce to step down as a captain and will continue to play for my country when the management and team need me…”

“I thank every single one of you from the bottom of my heart who came to the grounds despite matches being affected by the rain and those who supported us worldwide, your love truly means a lot to us”, Nabi added.

Talking about his International cricket career, Nabi has played 104 T20Is for Afghanistan in which he has got 1686 runs with 84 wickets in his kitty.c
