Mohammad Azharuddin Disqualified From HCA Elections, Check The Reason Here

In a surprising twist of events, former Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin has been dealt a major setback. The 60-year-old cricketing legend has been banned from contesting the upcoming elections of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). This development has sent shockwaves through the cricketing community and raises significant questions about the future of cricket administration in the region.

The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) elections are scheduled for October 20, organized by the Justice Lavu Nageswara Rao Committee. These elections mark a crucial moment in the cricketing landscape of Hyderabad, as various key positions within the association are up for grabs. These positions include the HCA president, vice president, secretary, assistant secretary, treasurer, and executive committee posts.

The decision to disqualify Mohammad Azharuddin stems from his association with Deccan Blues while holding the position of HCA president. This dual role raised concerns about conflicts of interest and violated the guidelines set by the HCA. Azharuddin’s cricketing legacy aside, these actions led to his disqualification by the committee.

The HCA election process commenced with the release of the election notification on September 30 by VS Sampath. The window for nominations opened on October 11 and will close on October 13, followed by scrutiny on October 14. Nominations can be withdrawn until October 16. The crucial polling day is set for October 20, with results expected on the same day.

The backdrop to these elections is a series of disputes and differences between Azharuddin and various committee members. These conflicts prompted the Supreme Court to intervene and order a fresh round of elections. The dissolution of the Justice Kakru Committee due to internal discord led to this pivotal decision.

Justice Lavu Nageswara Rao was entrusted with overseeing the HCA’s affairs after the Supreme Court’s intervention. He was pivotal in removing Mohammad Azharuddin from the voters’ list in the HCA polls, citing conflict of interest as the primary reason. Rao conveyed this decision to the former cricketing great through a detailed letter.

As of now, Mohammad Azharuddin has not publicly commented on the matter or expressed his perspective on the disqualification. His response, when it comes, is eagerly anticipated by cricket enthusiasts and followers of the Hyderabad Cricket Association.
