The Chennai Super Kings franchise now might be looking for another option with whom they can take the future of this team ahead. Recently, in the IPL 2023 auction, when CSK got the English all-rounder Ben Stokes at the whopping price of INR 16.25 crore, fans started seeing him as the successor of MS Dhoni.
Moeen Ali shared his opinion and suggested that this could be an opportunity for Ben Stokes to take up the captaincy role for his team. He also mentioned that the impressive opener Ruturaj Gaikwad might be another option for the leadership position.
“He’s really enjoying himself. I think there’s a chance [that Stokes succeeds Dhoni]; of course, there’s a chance, because he’s obviously done really well in Test cricket. But MS is still obviously in charge and he’s going to be captain for a while. We have some other guys as well: Ruturaj is a fantastic player with a good head on his shoulders, so it depends on what the franchise wants,” Moeen was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
MS Dhoni is one of the most successful captains in the history of the Indian Premier League. He has taken his team to the finals the most number of times, and also won the four titles for this reputed franchise.
