Mike Hussey Reveals The Retirement Plan Of MS Dhoni After IPL 2023

The batting coach of Chennai Super Kings Mike Hussey expressed his opinion on the possible retirement of the legendary CSK captain MS Dhoni. Hussey who had been Dhoni’s teammate in the past, disagreed with the rumours and believed that Dhoni could still play for the CSK team in the future.

Dhoni is 41 years old now and he has already said bye to his international career. He plays in the IPL but he is almost there to end his T20 career as well. There is speculation that the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League could be his last. However, CSK’s batting coach Mike Hussey observed that Dhoni is performing exceptionally well and sees no reason why he should not continue playing the next season.

While talking to a pre-match conference against Delhi Capitals, Hussey said,”That is the thing we have not spoken about. Whether he is playing his last IPL or not only he knows. We have no idea. He is hitting sixes and finishing off games. From my point of view as a batting coach, he is still batting really well. He is still motivated to keep coming into the training and working on his game, he is hitting the ball well.”

“We have seen him lighting up the innings and finishing things off really well. He has still got that six-hitting ability. So, while he is enjoying it and still contributing to the team, then there is no reason why he cannot keep going, maybe for another 5 years (chuckles)… we do not know it is all up to MS,” he added.

The match against Chennai Super Kings will be very crucial for them to qualify into the Playoffs. If CSK manage to beat Delhi, they will cruise to the top-4 without any hindrance but a loss against DC will keep Dhoni & company to be dependent on other teams.
