Michael Vaughan Predicts The Favourite To Win The ODI World Cup 2023

Michael Vaughan, the former England batter, feels that India has now begun to play one-day international cricket in a way that makes them strong favorites to win the ODI World Cup. The 2023 ODI world cup will be held in the subcontinent later this year.

In the ODI series, which came to an end on January 24, Tuesday, the Indian team defeated the second-ranked New Zealand team by a margin of 3-0.

The Indian batters were off to a quick start in the series, and they tried to maintain that momentum for the whole of the game. With 360 runs scored in the three-match series, young Shubman Gill took the lead and equaled Pakistan captain Babar Azam’s world record.

Vaughan observed India’s approach and claimed that India had caught up to the current game-playing tactics.

The former England captain said, “India finally committing to playing day cricket the aggressive way makes them Red hot favorites to win the men’s World Cup this year.”

In the third and final game of the series, India’s plan paid off as they compiled 385 runs, thanks to hundreds from Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. After January 2020, this was Sharma’s maiden century in an ODI. Meanwhile, India won its seventh straight ODI match, maintaining its perfect record ahead of the crucial ODI World Cup, which will be held later this year.
