MI vs CSK, IPL 2024: Rohit Sharma Century Goes In Vain, Chennai Super Kings Won The El Classico Of IPL By 20 Runs

In the 29th match of the IPL 2024, Chennai Super Kings beat Mumbai Indians by 20 runs at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. It is the second consecutive win for CSK and now the team is in third spot in the IPL points table.

The highlights of the match were Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni’s batting. One side where the former CSK captain smashed 20 runs in just four balls with the help of back-to-back three sixes against Hardik Pandya, the ex-skipper of MI, Rohit Sharma came with 105 runs with the help of 11 fours and five sixes. However, Rohit Sharma’s hitting could not help Mumbai, and the team fell short 20 runs while chasing a huge target of 207 runs.

In this match, MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and invited CSK to bat first. While batting first, CSK fans were delighted with the remarkable batting of skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube. Gaikwad got 69 runs in 40 balls, and Dube got 66 runs off just 38 balls.

For MI, Hardik Pandya got two wickets. Shreyas Gopal and Gerald Coetzee managed to get one wicket each.

While chasing the target of 207 runs, Mumbai Indians got off to a flying start and Ishan Kishan(23) along with Rohit Sharma added 70 runs for the first wicket. After the dismissal of Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav returned to the pavilion without scoring a single run and then Tilak Varma took MI’s innings ahead along with the former captain. Varma looked good with his bat but was dismissed at 31 runs. After Varma, Mumbai kept losing wickets at regular intervals and lost the match by 20 runs.

For Chennai, Matheesha Pathirana claimed the maximum of four wickets. Tushar Deshpande along with Mustafizur Rahman managed to get one wicket each.
