Washington Freedom had a shaky start chasing the target, with opener Mitchell Owen out on his first ball. Andries Gous also didn’t make much of an impact, getting out without scoring. Despite the poor start, Rachin Ravindra remained patient and played very well. The opener scored 70 runs off 41 balls, moving Freedom into a strong position. After Rachin Ravindra, Glenn Phillips also played well, scoring 48* runs from 34 balls.
With 12 runs needed in the last over, Glenn Maxwell’s wicket, when he had 15 runs, was too costly for Freedom to come back from. New York beat Freedom by five runs, winning their second Major League Cricket title.
