McKenzie’s Confidence in Maxwell’s Lean Run Recovery

Glenn Maxwell has not had the best start in this year’s IPL. The Australian all-rounder has faced only six balls in two matches, scoring only three runs.

However, RCB’s batting coach, Neil McKenzie, believes that Maxwell will soon return to form.

At the pre-match conference, Neil McKenzie said, “You know, that’s cricket. It’s up and down. It’s only two games. We know with Maxie, he’s going to win us a couple of games.“ He has made a slower start to the tournament, but we know that he’s going to win games for us later on in the tournament.”

The batting coach further added, ““It’s not a case of when that will happen. You’re still in the early stages of the IPL.. In high-octane T20 cricket, you know, your fortunes change pretty quickly; you know, they change overnight.”

Neil MacKenzie also talked about the innings that Virat Kohli played against the Punjab Kings a few days ago. Talking about the same, Neil MacKenzie said, “Virat has been an unbelievable performer for so long. It was a privilege to sit and watch (his fifty). I think just the way he sums up conditions, the way he sort of knows who’s going to bowl what—he has been one of our, if not the best, batters for a very long time.

MacKenzie further added, “So, it was really good to see him hitting the ground running and playing a really important knock for the side after those two months of no cricket. So, you can always trust him to put the team first.”
Royal Challengers Bangaluru are all set to face KKR on March 29 at Chinnaswamy to play their second home game of the season.
