The young pacer of Lucknow Super Giants. Mayank Yadav continued to impress the fans and experts in his second match as well. Just a few days after setting the record for the fastest delivery of the season at 155.8 kmph against Punjab Kings, he surpassed his record against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday.
Yadav bowled a lethal delivery at 156.7 mph, breaking his record for the fastest delivery in IPL 2024. This also marks the fourth fastest delivery in the history of the tournament, after Shaun Tait who produced 157.7 kmph in 2011, the second in the list of Lockie Ferguson with 57.3 kmph in 2022, and then the Indian pacer Umran Malik with 157.0 kmph in 2022 while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Mayank’s impressive bowling figures of 3/14 played a crucial role in stopping Royal Challengers Bangalore from dominating the game, as they were dismissed for 153 runs. This outstanding performance earned Mayank his second Player of the Match award in only his second IPL match, and he moved up to second place in the Purple Cap.
“Feel good, two Player of the Match awards in two matches. I am happier that we won both matches. My goal is to play for the country. I feel this is just the start. I enjoyed Cameron Green’s wicket the most,” said Mayank after the win.
LSG captain KL Rahul also praised Mayank Yadav for his sheer and controlled pace with good accuracy. He said, “One ball hit me really hard, so happy to see Mayank bowl the way he’s been bowling. He’s waited patiently for a year, he’s working hard, he’s professional, has a great temperament.”
