LSG receives a massive boost as Star pacer attains almost 100% fitness

The star bowler of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Mayank Yadav would probably regain his overall fitness to bowl before IPL 2026. He was already off the squad for the last season due to participating only in two games.

“Mayank Yadav’s rehabilitation is going well and he has already bowling at 90 per cent intensity with a current weekly workload of 18 overs,” an official from BCCI stated.

Mayank Yadav’s Future is Bright, He’ll be Playing for LSG in IPL 2026

Mayank Yadav who is now 23 years of age had been a person to watch in his first season at IPL because of his fast deliveries. He had taken seven wickets in four matches during the IPL 2024 with an amazing economy of 6.98. His performance in the Indian premier league was bright enough to get him India’s T20I cap, and the bowler made his international debut against Bangladesh in October 2024.

But the young talent has already faced a lot of injuries in his early career. He could not take part in last year’s domestic season due to a long-lasting back problem. The right-arm fast bowler was all set to return in IPL 2025, but a toe injury put him back.

The Delhi pacer got back to the team, but after playing only two matches he had to go out of the tournament once again due to the back problem. However, LSG had still kept the young gun with a huge financial investment of INR 11 crore despite the recurring injuries. But lately, a BCCI source has spilled the beans regarding the recovery status of the bowler to PTI.

“He has shown tremendous improvement in the area of strength and conditioning that has also allowed him to get closer to the maximal fitness levels for fast bowling. In the coming weeks, he is expected to bowl at 100 per cent intensity,” he continued.

Mayank Yadav’s Return Will Be a Great Support to LSG’s Pace Attack for IPL 2026

The management of Lucknow had, in fact, already constructed an injury-prone fast bowling unit which was to include Mayank, Mohsin Khan, and Avesh Khan, among others, for the next season. Besides, they had also parted with Shardul Thakur, the pace-bowling all-rounder who was gone to Mumbai Indians (MI) just before the mini auction.

In the midst of all this, the achieving of 90% bowling fitness by Mayank would be a huge plus for the team. Should the bowler get through the whole season without another injury, the combination of the ex-Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pacer, Mohammed Shami, and him could be the mainstay of LSG’s bowling attack.
