Mayank Yadav equals this 18 year old record of Ajit Agarkar in the maiden international appearance

While many were eagerly awaiting the emergence of the young speedster, Mayank Yadav, one thing is for sure, he was able to live up to the expectations promenaded on his T20I debut against Bangladesh in Gwalior, India, on Sunday.

T20I is still a new format for the twenty-two-year-old; however, he appears to have mastered the skills required to front up a maiden over at the start of a T20I career.

Though he also achieved the maiden achievement within the T20I frame, he was the first Indian who completed a run-less over at T20I debut after the former Indian fast bowler Ajit Agarkar. Ajit Agarkar, present chairman of BCCI selectors, made his T20I debut with a maiden over againts south Africa in 2006/07 while on one match tour of south Africa with india.

Mayank however, dialled it up as it was his second over the first international wicket delivered. Well, though he isn’t bowling at the 150 mark just yet, i can already see him showing off his raw quick pace against the Bangladeshi batters, getting into the mid-140’s comfortably. The fast bowler took out the experienced Mahmudullah’s wicket, which was an explosive start to his international journey.

The batsman attempted to come down the wicket and angle it towards the leg side for some space only for him to slice it to the off side only for it to reach the fielder at the deep point where Washington Sundar caught the ball.

The boy has shown signs of his capacity just after his first game for the national team. If he is able to walk that path, without any doubt he is one for the future because even for the best of batters they will have problems with his pace.

As far as the bowling department is concerned, the Indian team has been very effective since regular fall of wickets is being witnessed and Bangladesh just managed 127 runs in their 20 overs.
