Mayank Agarwal from Royal Challengers Bengaluru had a hard time finding the right words to praise his teammate, stand-in captain Jitesh Sharma, who really wowed everyone during the last group match against Lucknow Super Giants at Ekana Stadium. Bengaluru beat the Super Giants by six wickets with eight balls to go, thanks to Jitesh’s impressive 85 runs. Because of this win, RCB secured the second position, pushing Gujarat Titans down.

Mayank joined the game after RCB lost two quick wickets, and he saw Jitesh’s great performance up close as they teamed up for an unbeaten 107-run partnership.

After the match, Mayank shared their simple game plan. “There wasn’t much to say. I just needed to let Jitesh take the lead. He was amazing,” he said. “We focused on the bowlers, and I think that gave us a lot of confidence. We didn’t pull it off in the last match, but we really made up for it this time, and Jitesh led us well. We knew the pitch was good, so we aimed to build a partnership.

The match had its twists, with Lucknow’s captain Rishabh Pant scoring 118 runs, raising their total to 227. But then Virat Kohli and Phil Salt set the tone during the powerplay, and Jitesh and Mayank kept the momentum going, leading Bengaluru to their biggest chase in the IPL history.

With this win, Bengaluru is set to play against Punjab Kings in the Qualifier 1 on Thursday, while Gujarat will face Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator on Friday.
