As he keeps improving his recovery from injury, Lucknow Super Giants hope that pace sensation Mayank Yadav will be able to join the team around April 11 or 12. Reports earlier in the month had stated that Mayank was still recovering from a lumbar stress injury. pron. Debuted for India in the T20I series against Bangladesh last year, the fast bowler spent time rehabbing at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru before just resuming.
Mayank is expected to miss the first half of the IPL 2025 season, according to reports, but the most latest update has the 22-year-old joining the LSG team on April 11 or 12. Someone familiar with the circumstances informed Sports Tak, India Today&’s sibling station, that Mayank is batting well in the nets and appears to be ready for game. LSG is only seeking clearance from the Centre of Excellence which will enable the pacer to connect India squad.
Mayank is expected to be with the team long, the source added. Mayank will miss at least the first seven games—including matches against Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Chennai Super Kings—if he joins the LSG squad by April 11 or 12.
During his initial two matches, Mayank caught everyone’s attention with his outstanding performances in the IPL 2024 season, which brought him into the spotlight. Three wickets in his first game against Punjab Kings followed by a Player Of The Match performance at the Chinnaswamy stadium against Royal Challengers Bengaluru marked the 22-year-old’s beginning. A side strain, on the other hand, somewhat restricted his season appearances.
Notwithstanding this, LSG chose to have faith in the young speedster and kept him for 11 crore rupees. Recently, LSG mentor Zaheer Khan said the team wants Mayank to be &’150% fit.
Said Zaheer, “As much as we are keen on getting him [play IPL 2025], we want him 150 % fit—not only 100 % fit—so we will go everything feasible to bring him there.”
In Vizag on March 24, LSG will launch their IPL 2025 campaign opposing DC.
