In the ongoing T20I series, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh faced off in the second T20I at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on July 13. Bangladesh batted first after losing the toss and played well, with skipper Litton Das stealing the show.
After openers Tanzid Hasan and Parvez Hossain Emon were out early, Das, batting at number 3, scored 76 runs off 50 balls. This broke Shakib Al Hasan’s record of 70* for the highest innings score by a Bangladesh captain in T20Is.
Towhid Hridoy added 31 runs, and Shamim Hossain scored 48 runs off 27 balls, helping Bangladesh reach a total of 177 runs. For Sri Lanka, Binura Fernando took three wickets, while Nuwan Thushara and Maheesh Theekshana each took one.
Chasing the target, Sri Lanka had a bad start, with Kusal Mendis out for eight runs and Kusal Perera out for a duck. Pathum Nissanka scored 32 runs before being dismissed. Bangladesh’s bowlers kept the pressure on, dismissing Sri Lanka for 94 and winning the game by 83 runs.
