‘Let The Young Man Play’, Gautam Gambhir Stops Media And Fans To Overhype This Young Indian Batter

Yashasvi Jaiswal has made a remarkable debut on the grand stage by scoring 209 against England in the second Test at Vizag. In a match where no other Indian batsman managed to surpass 34, let alone reach fifty, Jaiswal aggressively took on the opposition and put his team in a comfortable condition.

For his remarkable knock, Jaiswal is getting praise from all critics and fans. Meanwhile, the former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir has said that Yashasvi Jaiswal, despite receiving widespread praise for his performance, should not be burdened with labels and should be given the freedom to enjoy the game.

While having a conversation with PTI, Jaiswal said, “I want to congratulate the youngster for his achievement but, more importantly, I want to tell everyone that let the young man play. We have seen in the past that in India we have a habit, especially the media, to over-hype their achievements and give them tags and make them look like heroes.”

The former Indian batter said, “The pressure of expectation gets the better of them and the players are not able to play their natural game. Let him grow and enjoy his cricket.”

Yashasvi Jaiswal played an innings of 209 runs in 290 balls which includes 19 fours and seven sixes. With the superb knock of the batter, team India managed to score 396 runs in the first innings.
