Leopard Attacks The Former Zimbabwean Cricketer, Wife Gives Update From Hospital

In a bizarre incident, former legendary cricketer from Zimbabwe Guy Whittall has been attacked by a leopard. His dog intervened and saved him, but he needed urgent surgery after sustaining injuries from the leopard.

According to a report from Daily Mail, The 51-year-old was assaulted while on a stroll in the conservancy he oversees in Zimbabwe’s Humani region. His dog, Chikara, shielded him but suffered injuries during the attack.

After sustaining some serious injuries from the incident, the former cricketer was airlifted to a hospital in Harare for immediate surgery. His wife, Hannah Stooks-Whittall, shared images on social media showing Whittall with bandages on his head while doctors attended to him.

“He is extremely fortunate. First, he survived a crocodile attack. Now, he escaped a leopard attack, thanks to Chikara’s timely intervention. Without Chikara’s help, the outcome could have been tragic.” Stooks-Whittall said to Daily Mail.

“We are so grateful to him, and Chikara will get some extra chicken as a treat. He’s got a vet appointment because he has a few scratches, but he should be okay. He’s in better shape than Guy.” she added.

“Fortunately, Guy is awake in bed and talking,” she said, “He’s telling anyone who will listen how he wrestled with a leopard, but we all know it was Chikara who saved him.”
