Kumar Sangakkara drops a massive statement on Yashasvi Jaiswal’s dismissal in second innings

Kumar Sangakkara, the Sri Lankan great, noticed that Yashasvi Jaiswal seemed uncomfortable during his brief innings at Lord’s in the third Test against England. Jaiswal got a seven-ball duck as India chased 193. Jaiswal seemed tired and never got going before Jofra Archer dismissed him. Archer’s quick, short-of-a-length ball outside off led to a thick edge that wicketkeeper Jamie Smith caught. Earlier, in the first innings, Archer also got Jaiswal out for 13 off 8 balls.

Sangakkara, commentating on Sky Sports, said Jaiswal didn’t look comfortable in his first over and appeared weary after fielding at short leg for India.

Karun Nair partnered with KL Rahul to guide India through the last hour of the fourth day. Nair played some good shots but one mistake cost him his wicket. He misjudged a ball that cut back sharply and was given out lbw. He departed for 14 off 33 balls.

Michael Atherton, the former England player, questioned Nair’s dismissal, saying it was odd to leave the ball, given that the slope from the Pavilion End makes the ball come back in. He added that Nair would likely have a painful bruise.

India captain Shubman Gill also had problems, as Brydon Carse trapped him lbw with a ball that nipped back. Gill reviewed, but the replay confirmed the ball hit his leg before the bat, sending him back for 6 off 9 balls.

India then sent in Akash Deep as a nightwatchman. Ben Stokes then bowled a great ball to dismiss him for 1 off 11 balls, leaving India at 58 for 4 at the end of the day.
