Rishabh Pant has had a rough IPL 2025 season so far. The Lucknow Super Giants captain has only scored 135 runs in 12 matches, averaging just under 13. In the recent game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he managed only 7 runs before getting out. Former Indian cricketer Kris Srikkanth didn’t hold back in criticizing Pant’s performance. He suggested that, given Pant’s hefty price tag of Rs 27 Crore, he should take some time off to work on his batting instead of focusing on what’s going wrong.
Srikkanth pointed out how things just aren’t going Pant’s way lately. He mentioned that even as a captain, he’s been making mistakes with strategy and field placements. He needs to play with more clarity, Srikkanth said in a YouTube video, as noted by Hindustan Times. He added that Pant has been finding creative ways to get out, almost like he’s inventing new methods, which reminded him of his playing days when he made similar mistakes.
Srikkanth suggested that it might be best for Pant to step back for a bit and focus on improving for next season. He noted that the team’s bowling lineup needs serious work too, saying they should look to make some big changes going forward.
