KL Rahul’s Insightful Explanation: The Reason behind LSG’s Move to send Marcus Stoinis to send at number three

Lucknow Super Giant’s Skipper, Kl Rahul, explained the decision to send Marcus Stoinis to bat at number three. Marcus Stoinis, who batted mostly in the middle order for the Lucknow Super Giants, came to bat at number three, helping his side to script a famous victory in Chepauk.

The Australian all-rounder became the third player for LSG to score an IPL hundred. Speaking at his post-match presentation, Rahul said that they need to be brave in the power play because of the changing nature of T20 cricket.

Kl Rahul said, “We felt like we needed to be braver and capitalize on the powerplay and needed 1 power-hitter in the top 3. I’ve realized that T20 cricket has changed in the past couple of years; 170-180 doesn’t always cut it. You need to go harder in the powerplay, and the impact player rule also gives you a bit more depth.”

Rahul went on to give full credit to Marcus Stoinis for helping the team to win. Kl Rahul said, “Full credit to Stoinis. It was not just power hitting; it was very clever batting. He picked his bowlers and played very well.”

Kl Rahul also spoke about the batting order being flexible apart from openers. Kl Rahul said, “There’s no set plan; apart from the openers, everyone else is ready to go out whenever we feel it’s right. We’re going to keep it flexible.”

The Lucknow Super Giants will be next seen in action against the Rajasthan Royals on April 27 in Lucknow.
