KL Rahul To Be Ruled Out From The T20 World Cup? Sunil Gavaskar Marks The Replacement Of Rahul

After coming out from the injury, Indian opener KL Rahul is not going well with his form. KL Rahul was unable to hit a single run in the blockbuster contest against Pakistan on August 28 and on the other hand, he made a struggling 36 off 39 balls against Hong Kong in the Asia Cup.

The continuous failure of KL Rahul is mounting pressure on him and the vice-captain needs to please the selectors before the T20 World Cup 2022, to be hosted by Australia. Seeing the collapse of KL Rahul, former Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar has showered some words of concern for the batsman.

Talking to sports talk, Sunil Gavaskar said, “See, Shubman Gill has batted so brilliantly in Zimbabwe and West Indies so there definitely is a stiff fight for the opening slot, the fight is tough. So if you aren’t scoring runs and are not in form then it’s concerning. It’s a matter of the World Cup, where you should only take players who are in form.”

It is worth mentioning that Shubman Gill has been in red hot form since the West Indies tour. He also scored his maiden ODI century against Zimbabwe and also clinched the man of the series award. Not only Gill, but Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, and even Deepak Hooda have recently opened for India in the T20 series against Ireland.

Talking about KL Rahul, he further mentioned,” There is no scope of taking a chance with someone there, hoping that after 2-3 matches, a player will return to form. No. Because all World Cup matches are tough. Rahul has a few matches left and he will have to score runs otherwise, the selection committee will think about what to do next.”
