KL Rahul Or Ishan Kishan? Mohammad Kaif Picks His Wicket-Keeper Choice For ODI World Cup 2023

Team India announced the squad of the ODI World Cup on September 5 where the mix of young and experienced players got the place for the marquee event. While Rishabh Pant was absent from the team for a long time due to his injuries, both Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul got the place in the squad.

Meanwhile, the former Indian batter Mohammad Kaid has picked his choice of wicket-keeper for the ODI World Cup, one between KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan.

Mohammad Kaif suggests that despite Ishan Kishan’s impressive 82-run performance against Pakistan, India should consider providing playing opportunities to Iyer at the No. 4 position and KL Rahul at No. 5. He feels this is essential because he expects both these players to be the part of the playing XI.

Mohammad Kaif said,”Rahul Dravid will know that both (Rahul and Iyer) are the backbone of the Indian middle order and that they will need game time. Ishan played really well, and that’s good because there’s healthy competition in the team.”

“However, if an in-form player sits out, then it’s not a problem because Dravid will want to see Rahul bat at No.5. He has good numbers at No. 5, and you will want him and Iyer to get game time and have that form when they play the first World Cup game against Australia.”

The ODI World Cup will start on October 5 with the clash of New Zealand and England at Narendra Modi Stadium. Rohit Sharma and team will play their first match on October 8 against the five-time World Champions Australia in Chennai.
