Kl Rahul and Ruturaj Gaikwad reprimanded for violation of the code of conduct in the IPL

CSK’s and LSG’s skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and KL Rahul have been reprimanded by BCCI for slow overrate in the match between CSK and LSG. Both Kl Rahul and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been fined Rs 12 lakh each.

This is KL’s and Gaikwad’s first offense of the season of slow overrate; if they repeat the same, a heavier fine will be imposed on both of them.

The news of getting fined is never good for any sportsperson, but KL Rahul won’t mind because he had a phenomenal outing against CSK as he scored 82* and took two brilliant catches, which helped his team win the match by 8 wickets.

An official statement has been issued by BCCI regarding this matter, which reads, “KL Rahul, Captain, Lucknow Super Giants, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match 34 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Chennai Super Kings at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. As it was his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses, Rahul was fined INR 12 lakh.”

On the other hand, the same punishment would have been a more bitter pill for Gaikwad as CSK lost the match and Ruturaj had an off day in office with bat as well.

A statement was issued by BCCI for Gaikwad as well, which read, “Ruturaj Gaikwad, Captain, Chennai Super Kings, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match 34 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. As it was his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses, Gaikwad was fined INR 12 lakh.”
