KKR vs PBKS, IPL 2024: Punjab Kings Creates History, Registers The Highest Chase In The History Of IPL Reaching 262 Runs; Bairstow Smashes Hundred

Punjab Kings batters have mesmerized everyone with their powerful hitting and now they hold the record for the highest chase in the history of IPL. While chasing a mammoth target of 262 runs, Punjab Kings finished the match before eight balls with eight wickets in hand.

While chasing the target of 262, Punjab started on a high note where Prabhsimran Singh and Jonny Bairstow added 93 runs for the first wicket. Prabhsimran scored 54 runs in 20 balls including four fours and five sixes. After the dismissal of Prabhsimran, Bairstow continued the spark along with Rilee Rossouw who got 26 runs. The South African batter returned to the pavilion in 12.3 overs from where Shashank Singh took the guard with Bairstow.

Bairstow scored 108 runs in 48 balls including eight fours and nine sixes. On the other hand, Shashank got 68 runs in just 28 balls with the help of two fours and eight sixes. With the help of these powerful batters, Punjab created history.

Before it, KKR Punjab Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first. KKR put on a huge total of 261 runs at the loss of six wickets. For Kolkata, Philip Salt got 75 runs while Sunil Narine got 71 runs. Apart from them, Venkatesh Iyer scored 39 runs with his bat, with the good contribution of Shreyas Iyer where he got 28 runs.

For scoring a superb hundred, the England wicket-keeper batter Jonny Bairstow has been designated as the Man Of The Match.
